Photos: Pam Patterson
My white body is lying in the grass near the cliff at the port of Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. My hands are tied to the legs at the back of my body. My hands and feet are painted golden. My hair is plaited in tiny braids. A photograph of fingers cut by a machete is hanging on the rock wall next to me.
I took this photo of the hand of the curator sutured with a few stitches after we had been attacked and robbed on the beach a few days earlier.
